A large portion of population in India is vegetarian; some statistics say it is about a third of the population, others almost half of it at 48%. (That is still anywhere from 300-500 million people). With religions that honor animals it is not so surprising. And even those who do eat meat still have a mainly veg diet. And is not astonishing that being a vegetarian in this country is so easy when the base of the food in menus is around vegetarian dishes.
